Beer lovers are in the right place.

Pilsen is the beer Mecca of the Czech Republic. The Brewery Museum and a tour of the Pilsen Prazdroj Brewery will show you both the traditional brewing methods used to make Pilsner Urquell and the state-of-the-art technology used in the industry today. The brewery is also a very interesting technological site. This is where the very first batch of the best-known Czech beer, Pilsner Urquell, was brewed in 1842. This light lager has lent its name to many other beers that are referred to as “pilsner”. However, the Pilsen Region is not just about beer. Here you will find monumental monasteries and pilgrimage places, castles and chateaux, technological monuments and several rivers, including the famous Berounka. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, you can obtain a certificate of apprenticeship in the unique Dobřív Iron-Mill. The Techmania Science Center in Pilsen explains many mysterious physical phenomena. A number of interactive exhibits on a former shop floor in the Škoda Works will help you understand how and why natural laws in acoustics, optics, electricity and other fields work. If you prefer staying outdoors, you can explore the countryside along winding trails on bicycle or by foot. The Chodsko region is known from several Czech fairy-tales and for its former border guards (Chodové). You can visit many museums and renowned fairs and festivities. If you are a history fan, you will certainly want to visit all eleven original villages whose people were once in charge of guarding the Bohemian Kingdom’s borders. The Mže River valley and Hracholusky Reservoir will please both winter sports lovers and those who prefer to relax. The more courageous ones can try practicing on a climbing wall near the dominant feature of the Pilsen Region, Radyně Castle. Another stop on your journey might be the Zbiroh Chateau, where the most famous oil paintings by Alfons Mucha were made. Do you enjoy rural architecture? Then be sure to see the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Přeštice, one of the most beautiful rural Baroque sacral structures.

The project is financed by the EU ́s Integrated Operational Programme - National Support for Tourism. The objective is to create a tourism product that will help entrepreneurs in rural areas and people who spend their holidays in the countryside.
